We had a great week during which Kindergartners chose causes they wished to support with Tamchui, continued to explore symmetry, and celebrated two birthdays!  Please click the link below to see pictures and details about these areas of study and more!

Looking ahead:

  • NEXT FRIDAY WILL BE THE 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL!!!  PLEASE SEND IN A COLLECTION OF 100 ITEMS, COUNTED BY YOUR KINDERGARTNER, TO BE DISPLAYED IN A 100s MUSEUM!!!  Objects can start to come in as early as Monday.  Please have them here by Friday. 
  • Messy Art Day on Thursday, Feb 13th (please wear clothes than can get a little messy)
  • Myles will be the featured Important Person of the Week next week!
  • Elena and Yael will be the Shabbat helpers.
  • No school during February vacation week ( February 17th- 21st) or on Monday, February 24th.  Rashi will reopen on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25.
  • Simon's Important Person Week will be March 2nd- 6th.
  • Zev's Important Person Week will be  March 16th - 20th.
  • Yael's Important Person Week will be March 30th - April 3rd.

Did you know that the Rashi School has been a member of The Massachusets Educational Theater Guild since 2003?  The Rashi Middle School Theater Company has been participating in the State Drama Festival for over 14 years.  We have had over 40 Rashi Middle School students stand and receive an All-Star Recognition Award at the festival over the years,  in the areas of Acting, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Sound Design and even 2 students as Live Musicians!  There are over 40 Middle Schools around the state that participate and Rashi is one of the Host Sites for the Festival this year!  The exciting part of festival is watching other Middle Schools perform and knowing that in is almostly completely student run.  If you haven't seen a festival come and visit on Sunday, April 28th from 9 AM - 6 PM. Behind the Scenes of Rashi Theater

Rashi Middle School Students are busy working on the upcoming play "A Wrinkle in Time" to be presented on November 16-17th.  Students are able to work behind the scenes by signing up for two different in school MS electives classes.  The Tuesday elective "Props and Costumes" and the Friday elective "Technical Theater Design" have been working the last few weeks designing for the performance.  Students in the electives have identified the costume, prop and scenery pieces that they are working on for the eight week electives.  Using Design Thinking they have started the process by learning the wants and needs for a show and talking to the Directors (their clients) to understand the vision for the show.   The start of the process includes research using the script to learn about needs for the design and the internet to learn about the time period of the 80s  for the show settting.  The students also created a Mood Board for costume inspiration.
