Chanukah Sameach! Happy Chanukah!

Ask your child: 1) Why are there eight days of Hanukkah? 2) Who were the Maccabees?  (The Jewish army whose small army defeated the Greek army. 3) How are you brave like a Maccabee? 4) What did you do during reading workshop? ( We rotated through 4 stations, reading group, phonics writing, Miss Perkin's phonics game and the listening station. 5) What is a robot? 6) Are there any robots in our house? Grade 2 Happenings!

AMAZING SECOND GRADERS! Pumpkin S.T.E.A.M. Project Second graders were given the engineering task of helping "Farmer Joe" with a problem he was having on his farm. They were given a fixed set of materials with which they had to design and build something that would keep the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch off the ground so they would not be destroyed by bugs. Each set of partners planned, sketched, built and tested at least one design. The kids had a great time! Sydney and Maya collaborated beautifully. Emma and Ben did a lot of brainstorming. Success! Mila and Max started their structure with a square base. Ellie and Helen built a very tall structure. Daphne and Simone used all of their materials. Asher and Hunter did a lot of testing. Chase and Noah worked very hard. Nate and Jacob had great persistence. Sabrina and Benjamin showed amazing growth mindset. Shayna ...
