by Stephanie Rotsky

In connection with their literature study of War With Grandpa, I have been working with fourth graders on identifying and examining different myths and stereotypes about elders.

and understanding the Jewish value of Hiddur P'nai Zaken - "lifting up/elevating the face of elders."

Check out some of the video clips below that the fourth graders watched and discussed in relation to how elders are portrayed in the media:

1. Chevy Commercial - Old Couple Young Again

2.  85 Year Old Best Friends

3.  Hey Wrinkle Face - Cover Girl

4. Aunt Bethany Says Grace - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

5. Ready, Set, Lick - Oreo commercial

6. OurStage: Young @ Heart Plays Newport Folk Festival

7. Coca Cola "Refreshed" commercial
