Go Bananas

We had another wonderfully productive week in fifth grade. In science, students conducted their first experiment as they tried to solve the problem of how to keep bananas from getting too brown too soon. Students chose different ways to do this including putting bananas in the refrigerator, covering the stems with a plastic bag, putting the entire banana in a zip lock bag, and storing bananas in a plastic case. We've been graphing our data each day as we measure the percentage of brownness.

On Wednesday, we celebrated Sukkot with residents of Newbridge. Fifth graders took the Newbridge residents, who were in wheelchairs, for a walk around the campus and we ended up in the Sukkah for snacks and songs. We also continued our study of prehistory as we started learning about Lucy.
