Photosynthesis, Generations Day, and More!
Photosynthesis, Generations Day, and More
October 19, 2018
Anne Glanz and Sharon Packer
Our first full week in 5th grade, and it was a busy one! We were thrilled to observe and record the changes in our plants experiments this week. One interesting observation was that the plants that received no light were taller and paler than the others. We capped the week by learning about photosynthesis, which started to answer some of our questions about what was happening with these experimental plants. We started our Short Story unit by reading an interesting story called, “The Strap Box Flier” and practiced making predictions and inferences as we read. In Social Studies, we’ve been learning about the development of agriculture as a major turning point in human history. Ask your child about how the discovery of farming/agriculture changed the way humans lived, and what was so important about the newfound ability to grow and store surplus food. We took an assessment on our multiplication unit, and started learning about factoring and prime numbers. We are looking forward to capping our week at Generations Day, sharing the precepts we wrote in class, and gaining some Words of Wisdom from our special guests.
WE ENJOYED MEETING ALL OF THE WONDERFUL RELATIVES
WHO VISITED!!!
