Prehistory Presentations, Plant Growth spurt and Pollination and More!
Prehistory Presentations, Plant Growth Spurt, Pollination and More!!!
October 26, 2018
Anne Glanz and Sharon Packer
Our plants went through a huge growth spurt this week! They are starting to produce buds and some started to flower today. We learned about photosynthesis and students made models to show their understanding of how this complex process works. This morning's lesson about pollination was just in time because some flowers opened today. Next week, the 5th graders will be pollinating their plants. Please ask your 5th grader to explain photosynthesis to you. In math, we worked on factoring composite numbers (ask your child what that is!) using the factor rainbow and factor tree methods. We also started learning about divisibility rules to determine if a number is divisible by 2, 5, 10, 3, 6, and 9. In Social Studies, we capped our study of Prehistory by creating individual projects to demonstrate that students understood the importance of the discoveries of tools, fire, and farming to human development. Our 5th graders were so creative! We had some raps, beautiful posters, children’s books, games, and even a skit. We can’t wait to show you the products at conferences in a couple of weeks!
Have a great weekend!
