Week of October 15th

Tefillah, Reading Buddies, and Generations Day!!

Our first full week was filled with many wonderful activities!

We had our first tefillah of first grade on Monday with Stephanie and Rabbi Micah. The ruach and excitement around singing the morning blessings and some of our favorite songs was palpable. We love singing songs in tefillah and in our classroom!

The first graders participated in reading centers. Each week we have five centers to practice foundational reading skills and opportunities to explore language/literacy in a multi-sensory way. We are so lucky to have residents from NewBridge visit our class on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Fridays, Rabbi Hank Zoob, the founder of the Rashi School, joins us for reading. It has been wonderful getting to know him and having him as part of our classroom community.

We met with our 4th grade buddies and worked on a collaborative book about first graders and fourth graders. It was so much fun typing on the computers and spending time with our friends on the second floor.

We ended the week with Generations Day. It was a special day and we loved having grandparents, parents, and special friends join us. The first graders heard the weekly parsha of Lech Lecha and illustrated a Jewish holiday where she or he feels the presence of G-d.
