What's New in Grade Two: 10/22-10/26

This week's blogger is Eli! We celebrated his birthday this week on Wednesday. It was the first birthday we celebrated in our classroom.

Reading:
In my book group we are reading a book called Sam and Charlie. It is about two kids who have a new neighbor that moves in. During book group, we read a book and then we have jobs. Some of my jobs this week were Visualizer, Character Charter, and Mind Reader.

Science:
We've been learning about the brain. We made brain hats. We colored in all the different parts of the brain. I liked learning all about the brain.

Math
This week we learned about base 10 rods and how to use them in different ways.

Favorite Book
My favorite book that I read this week was the National Geographic Kids magazine. I read an article about wedges. One fact I learned is that a snowblower is a type of wedge. I really liked reading this magazine because it was interesting and I liked the pictures.

Writing
In Writer's Workshop this week, I wrote a story about tennis. I thought of an idea for a story and wrote down the details o my planning sheet. Then I wrote the details into a rough draft of my story,  then I edited my story with a teacher.  I wrote my final draft and published it.  I will get to share and read my story to everyone. I am excited to share my story with everyone.

Favorite Part of this Week
My birthday!
