Week of November 13th

In writing, First Graders are working on making their own pattern books. This week they were introduced to Time Patterns while listening to the book Chickens to The Rescue by, John Himmelman. Ask your child about which Time Patterns they tried!
Some first graders have been working together during choice time to build tall towers out of Cuisenaire Rods.
During Social Studies, students listened to the story Sammy Spider's First Trip to Israel by Sylvia Rouss. We discussed the different characteristics of five cities in Israel, and then by table, students depicted what each city may look like. The cities were Eilat, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Galilee, and the Negev.

As part of our Geography Unit, First graders learned to address envelopes. Look out for our special message as first graders addressed envelopes to themselves.

Bonny came into our classroom on Thursday to introduce the story A House is a House For Me in preparation for our play on December 4th!
