Spotlight on Stage - 7th Grade Shakespeare

Grade 7 - Shakespeare Residency - "The Tempest"

Did you know that Rashi has a yearly Shakespeare Residency with Shakespeare Now! from Brookline, Ma during the month of January?  This year the 7th grade is working on scenes from "The Tempest".  Students work with some professional Actor/Directors  in their Language Arts class and learn how to take "the page to the stage".  As they practice their lines in the original Shakespearean English, they are learning how to embody the characters that speak these lines.  The 7th grade classes will be sharing the scenes they have worked over the last few weeks with their classmates this week.  It gives the students a chance to see these stories come alive, which helps them to understand the story that they have read in class....We are such stuff that dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded in sleep".... William Shakespeare, "The Tempest"
