Week of January 7th

Questions to ask your child about this week:

1) Who was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr?  Why is he important?
2) What were some of the unfair laws that MLK wanted to change?
3) Who was Rosa Park and what law did she help change?  Why did she get arrested?
4) Why didn't anyone ride the buses in Alabama for year?
5) What is a "Peace March"? (We will be marching with signs to remind people about Dr. Martin Luther King and how he changed the world by marching peacefully.)
6) Martin Luther King said in his I Have a Dream speech - "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."  What does that mean?
7) What is an "h buddy"? (We have learned digraphs like sh, ch, th and wh).
8) What part are you in the play?
9) What did we learn about recycling this week?

We learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr , watched video of his speech "I Have a Dream" and discussed the meaning of his speech.
