Week of January 7th!

Our Shin Shin Nitzan, came into our classroom this week to teach us about how Shabbat in Israel is celebrated. We played a game in teams to learn about the differences between how we celebrate Shabbat in the U.S. and how she and other Israelis celebrate in Israel.

Students learned about the last three plagues in Egypt listening to this week's Torah portion. We discussed at length the life-changing moment when the slaves became free. We also discussed the lines from the Torah that describe Moses asking the Jewish elders to put lamb's blood on their doorposts, so the "Angel of Death" would pass over them. The class learned that the word "mezuzah" was used for the first time in the Torah in this parsha.
