What's Happening in First Grade

What's Happening in First Grade

January 1, 2019

We have been learning all about shelters in social studies. The first graders heard the story Is This A House for a Hermit Crab and discovered the perfect home for a hermit crab. Working with a partner, the students read a short passage about ants, beavers, birds, and bats before creating an illustration of that animal in it's perfect home or shelter.

We heard a special presentation about recycling. We learned more about items we use at home and at school which can be recycled and which items need to go in the trash.

The first graders enjoyed a recess in the snow! As we were leaving lunch, snow began to fall and we enjoyed the first taste of winter weather on the playground!
