What's New in Grade Two: 1/14-1/25

This week's blogger is Emily!

Science: This week we wrote autobiographies of raindrops. We got to write a story of how a water droplet goes through the water cycle. The droplet experienced precipitation, evaporation, and condensation. Last week we did a STEM project with Ms. Alper's class. The challenge was to create an open water slide for a small plastic bear named Ted E. Bear. We could only use tin foil, wax paper,  plastic wrap, tape, and paper towel tubes. We designed two different slides for Ted E., and they were mostly successful. I enjoyed working with my group and designing the water slides.

Biographies: We have started researching biographies of famous individuals for our Wax Museum project. I am researching Michelle Obama. She was the first lady, and is married to Barack Obama. One fun fact is that they have a dog.

Math: We are learning about fractions. We got to make fraction pizzas using pizza boxes. I really enjoyed making this project.

Favorite Part of the Week: Making the fraction pizzas!

Favorite Book I'm Reading: We just finished The Magical Ms. Plum in my book group. I liked the animals in the story and how Ms. Plum was magical.
