Week of January 28th

This week first graders continued working on their small moment stories. They learned about choosing a seed within a watermelon topic. Also, first graders were introduced to their tiny topic notebooks. This tool will be used for students to jot down ideas that they want to write about throughout the day.

First graders began to learn about the fibers in their clothing. Children learned how to find and read clothing labels. They touched and sorted a variety of clothing made from silk, cotton, wool, or polyester. Over the next few weeks, we’ll take a closer look at how fibers are grown, produced or processed into clothing.

Students created a beautiful collage in our classroom based on the book Jennie's Hat by Ezra Jack Keats.
