Week of October 2nd
Questions to ask your child about their week:
1) What are the stages of a bee's lifecycle? (egg, larva, pupa, adult bee).
2) What was the "Hardest Word" for the Ziz? (It was "sorry").
3) What does Slichah mean? (It means that we are sorry. We learned it as a song: Slicha is the word to say, slicha is the word to say. It means that I'm sorry, I'm so very sorry, please won't you forgive me today.
4) Who was Jonah and why did he end up in a whale? (He did not do what G-d had asked him to do.) We sang a song about Jonah and acted out when he was in the whale. The children had to do a movement to a song in order to get out: Jonah, Jonah, what will you do? A great big fish has eaten you! I'll move like this, I'll move about, I'll pray that God will get me out. Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 you're free!
5) What are some jobs of honeybees? (Worker/builder bee, forager bee, nurse bee, guard bee) What jobs did you have today when we acted out being honeybees in a colony? What were your responsibilities?
6) What lowercase letters did we learn this week? (c and a)
7) What did we make out of beeswax at Choice? (Beeswax self-portraits)

Teamwork: Marble Run at Choice
Recess beauty salon
Making a bar graph with our daily weather data
Kindergartners chose different bee jobs - forager bee, worker (builder bees), guard bee and nurse bees and pretended to be living together in a bee colony
The worker bees build and clean the hive....
The "figure eight bee dance" alerts others bees that flowers are close by
Nurse bees feed the larva in the cells and seal them with wax so they can grow into bees ready to hatch as adults
Forager bees collect pollen in their "pollen baskets"
A forager bee sips nectar with her long "proboscis"
Collecting pollen and putting it in "pollen baskets"
The nectar (sweet honey water) is delicious!
Nurse bees taking care of the larva.
Guard bees make a lot of noise when a skunk or bear is nearby!
Forager bees doing a "bee dance"
Nurse bees taking care of the larva
Keep away from our bee colony, bears and skunks!!!
Worker bees hard at work building their hive
Sipping nectar from a flower
Go away skunks and bears!!
Carrying pollen back to the hive
