We have had a great week of learning and fun in first grade!!

Language Arts: During our FUNdations lessons we have been practicing the suffix -s. The first graders are becoming experts in identifying the base word and suffix in real and nonsense words. In Writer's Workshop, wrote in our journals about Tamchui and the important learning taking place.

Social Studies: We talked about different animal shelters. The first graders worked hard to create their own shelters for beavers, bats, ants, and hermit crabs.

Tamchui: Tamchui is well under way! We learned about the first of three organizations, The Nature Conservancy. We met Kim Lutz, a representative from the organization, who taught us about the environment and shared what we can do to help. We are so proud of the 8th graders who worked hard to create exciting activities for us to participate in. The first graders can't wait to learn about two more organizations next week!
