A Wonderful Winter Week
Lots of Learning & Fun in Grade 2!
We had another wonderful week in our class. We continued to learn about food chains. We read a book, What if There Were No Gray Wolves, by Suzanne Slade. We learned about the delicate balance of every food chain in an ecosystem and what a powerful impact it can have to lose even one link in a food web. We also read a beautiful book, My Brother Martin: A Sister Remembers Growing Up with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by Christine King Farris. We learned about MLK's childhood, and the hurts and hopes he had. Stephanie did a powerful lesson with about racism... a lot to think about over the MLK holiday weekend.
We played a great game, Eat or Be Eaten, all about building food chains.
Stephanie used three different color eggs to demonstrate that while we may look different from the outside, human beings are all the same inside.
We had a lovely visit from Levi Cohen's Au Pair. She taught us about Brazil. She also fed us delicious chocolate treats and cheese bread from Brazil. We also made Brazilian Indian hats.
We did a fun "SCOOT" around the room to show our knowledge of food chains.
