Week of 1/6 - 1/10
Week of January 6th-10th
What a great first full week back, and a wonderful start to the New Year! This week we had lots of science lessons. We began our unit on food chains. Second graders learned about producers, consumers, and apex predators. This connected nicely to our previous unit on habitats. We also began learning about climate change in preparation for Tamchui. We talked about how the world's climates have changed over time, and how many places have become increasingly warmer.
We started new books this week in our book groups. We are reading Keena Ford and the Second Grade Mix-up, Shelter Pet Squad: Jelly Bean, Marty McGuire has Too Many Pets, and Ruby Lu, Brave and True. In math, we've been wrapping up our units on fractions in our math groups. In writing, we began our highly-anticipated fiction unit. Students brainstormed characters and settings for potential stories, and then began planning out their stories. We are so excited to read everyone's first published fiction pieces!

Shabbat shalom!!
