What's New in Grade Two: 2/25-2/28

What's New in Grade Two 2/25-2/28

We have had a fun and busy week. We have continued to learn and interpret more Nisim B'kol Yom (daily blessings) in Jewish Studies. In math we are studying multiplication and its connection to repeated addition. On Wednesday, we had our third Tribes meeting of the year. Ask your child what they did with their Tribe. In science we began our study of water by playing a game of charades. Ask your child what they acted out. On Thursday we hypothesized how many drops of water could fit on a penny. We discovered that it is not so different from how many drops fit on other coins. Why is that? We are beginning to learn about the concept of surface tension and will continue to learn more next week. One student said, "It's like the water droplets are holding hands." In Writer's Workshop we were introduced to the concept of using quotation marks and dialogue in both our fiction and personal narratives. We will continue to practice this skill next week. In Fundations we learned about words ending in -le like bubble and giggle. Ask your child how many -le words they can come up with!  On Wednesday, we celebrated the beginning of the month of Adar by having crazy hair and hat day. Please enjoy our fun photos!
