Busy Bees
We hope you had a good New Year's celebration!
Our Kindergartners enjoyed dipping apples in honey and now they're learning about the process of how honey is made. Today, after reading a nonfiction book about bees and learning about the different roles that bees fulfill in their colony, the children applied and expressed their new knowledge through dramatic play. Children took on the roles of baby bees, builder and cleaner bees, nurse bees, guard bees and forager (or field) bees. During the stages of development of her short (two month) life, a female bee takes on each of these roles. Of course we had a queen! Queen bees can live for two or three years.
