Arks and Animals, Rainbows and Color for Parshat Noach
This week, in connection with the Torah portion of Noach, our dramatic play area has become an ark, custom built my Mrs. Liptz and the Kindergartners.

We read the text of G-d's promise to put a "bow in the sky", so that we will know that the world will never again be destroyed by flood. Then we considered how a rainbow is formed and explored how light travels. Kindergartners blocked light to make shadows, reflected light with mirrors to change its course, and used prisms and water to refract light and see the many separate colors that are a part of "white" light.

During Language Arts this week, students used the listening center to hear a story and worked in small groups with magnetic tiles to form words, with a board game to strengthen recognition of beginning letter sounds, with their illustrated Once Upon a Time (the Creation Story) books to find and read familiar words.

Choice Time always offers a chance to sit and talk with friends, work on creative projects together, engage in imaginative, dramatic play, and take a closer look at what's been brought in for Treasure Key.
