Fifth Graders at Work

Dear Parents,

This week in our Prehistory unit, the fifth graders learned about the discovery of fire and farming which enabled early humans to settle in communities rather than being nomadic. Below you can check out our busy workers during Math exploring strategies for multiplying larger numbers.

In Science, students started learning about the concepts of capacity and buoyancy and learned to use a syringe to measure the liquid capacity of a small model "lifeboat" as well as testing the number of pennies (passengers) it could support before sinking.

We wish you a Happy Succot!  Since we won't be sending out another blog post on Friday, we also wish you Shabbat Shalom, and a wonderful long weekend that includes Columbus Day!
