From Landscaping Trailer to Sukkot Mitzvah Trailer...
by Stephanie Rotsky October 6, 2017
In the midst of celebrating Sukkot, the Second Grade...
- wrote their own blessings to share for what they are thankful,
- designed what a Sukkat Shalom (shelter of peace) could look like using paper collage
- brainstormed the similarities and differences between their homes and a sukkah
- shared what is precious about their own homes
- illustrated eye-opening facts/statistics about hunger & homelessness in Greater Boston & MA
- wrote Circle Poems about their homes and Sukkot
- wrote thank you cards to First Responders and Volunteers who helped
many people following the hurricanes in Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean
and took their beautiful work and TRANSFORMED the Landscaping Trailer in the parking lot into a Sukkot Mitzvah Trailer that is holding all of the Sukkot bags that Rashi is collecting for the Dedham Food Pantry, Family Table of JF&CS and Hope and Comfort!
Stop by the trailer and get inspired by the second graders' work, learn something new and perhaps feel a renewed sense of appreciation and gratefulness...
AND...Please bring back your paper bags for the Dedham Food Pantry, Family Table and Hope and Comfort by Wednesday, October 11th!
