Week of October 7-13th
We have had another fabulous, if brief, week of 3rd grade! Ask your child about our diner lunch, our local foliage walk and our science experiment with Ali Fine, the 7th and 8th grade science teacher.
On Wednesday we had our diner lunch. Students named their lunches using special diner lingo, a fun feature of diner culture which originated in the northeast.
We went on a foliage walk to identify and collect leaves from trees native to our area. We took full advantage of our surroundings behind the school near the Charles River and students enjoyed the opportunity to work outdoors on an unseasonably warm day.
We were very fortunate to have Ali Fine help us conduct an experiment related to fall leaves! Students discussed the reasons why leaves change color in the fall and hypothesized whether leaves would show their "hidden colors" when sorted by color and crushed before testing using chromatography filters.
