Mount Rashimore
This week, as we study the Midwest, our focus turned to Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Park. In honor of all things presidential, the students worked on their "John Hancock" using quills that Mrs. Blair fashioned out of feathers and pencils. We also constructed Mount Rashimore, a monument that honors our classroom kehillah! Later this week, we will look at some famous quotations credited to Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt.
We also shared some sage advice, dispensed by Gerald Ford, (38th President of the United States): "Tell the truth, work hard, and come to dinner on time."
We asked the kids to complete this sentence starter on their own: Tell the truth, work hard, and..
...be a good friend.
...clean the playroom.
...learn.
...be kind to wildlife.
...dance.
...eat candy.
...don't say bad words.
...be kind to siblings.
...say I love you to your parents.
...don't say swears.
...help others.
...love your family.
...don't talk back to adults.
AND
...don't be late for school.
...come to school on time.
...get to school on time.
(We can only imagine what your mornings look like at home!! 😄 )
Have a great rest of the week!
