Spotlight on Stage - "Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen"
The Middle School presented "Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen" this past week as the MS Fall Play. The Cast of 15 and Crew of 8 had been working on the play since the beginning of the school year. There are a lot pieces that go into putting on a play - designing and building the scenery, lights, sound, costumes and props as well as learning the lines, the staging and in this case stage combat. In Middle School the theater program has a lot of student input and leadership. Here is a review from Eitan M. who played Roger in the show...Being in "Jolly Roger and The Pirate Queen" was awesome. In my opinion, I think everyone was blown away. That includes the audience, the tech, the directors, even us, the actors. It came out really well, but to be honest, we didn't have everything ready until the last second. The set was finished and ready the day before the play, and people were still memorizing the day of the play. Keeping that in mind, it came out really well. My specific experience including becoming friends with the person who played my character's friend, and being able to wear the most elaborate costume I've ever worn. That costume was very warm, because there were four layers. Anyways, this show will remain in my mind and the school's as one for the ages.
