Hello Rashi Community,

    As the snow melts, your Rashi thespian officers are working hard to prepare for the upcoming spring musical. We are searching for recruits for our musical, Once On This Island. Practices began on Tuesday, January 16 and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm-5:15pm until the week of May 14th, when there are mandatory rehearsals on Monday the 14th and Tuesday the 15th until 6pm.  Those who want a smaller role may chose only to attend Thursday practices. The first show will be on Wednesday, May 16th at 1pm-3pm and the second/final show will be on Thursday, May 17 from 7pm-9pm.  After Tuesday's rehearsal, cast and crew are invited to stay after for our annual ITS dinner and induction ceremony, where the current officers will hand down their titles to the 7th graders.

    Additionally, on Sunday, April 29, Rashi will be participating in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild's Middle School Drama Festival. The Rashi School has participated in Festival for the last thirteen years and will participate this year at the Dover-Sherborn Host site. Over the course of the day, we will watch 4-5 other school’s shows and eventually perform our own. The festival is professionally adjudicated and all schools are graded against a rubric and can earn  a Gold, Silver or Bronze award as well as various All-Star Student Awards. Our performance will be entirely student-led and designed so we can’t wait to show you!

Did you know that the Rashi School has been a member of The Massachusets Educational Theater Guild since 2003?  The Rashi Middle School Theater Company has been participating in the State Drama Festival for over 14 years.  We have had over 40 Rashi Middle School students stand and receive an All-Star Recognition Award at the festival over the years,  in the areas of Acting, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Sound Design and even 2 students as Live Musicians!  There are over 40 Middle Schools around the state that participate and Rashi is one of the Host Sites for the Festival this year!  The exciting part of festival is watching other Middle Schools perform and knowing that in is almostly completely student run.  If you haven't seen a festival come and visit on Sunday, April 28th from 9 AM - 6 PM.
