Spotlight on Stage
On January 31st the 7th grade presented scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. We asked a few 7th graders to reflect on their experience.
Molly Hughes: A Midsummer Night’s Dream was a great team building experience. Each class was split into two groups and each group learned about and performed one scene from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. There were student directors and there were days where groups would work with Theatre Director, Bonny Goldberg, Technical Theatre Director, Michael Finke, and Shakespeare Now, a professional theatre company that provides education to elementary, middle, and high schools around Massachusetts about Shakespeare and his great works. It was truly an honor to work on this play and I had a lot of fun performing it.
Eitan Mostoslavsky: A Midsummer Night’s Dream was an experience. But what an experience! Never before did I know that Shakespeare had a sense of humor. Now I think he has a great sense of not only the theatrical, but good, comedy! This experience has been great, as not only were we able to act well by acting well, but we could at the same time get some laughs while doing it. It was also great to meet people who have studied Shakespeare, in greater depth than we did, and for them to give us advice. In this time, my group and I have had great teamwork, and we have had such coordination that it came out as the play with a play within the play.
