Week of February 5 5th Grade Glanz/Packer

Fifth Grade Update
February 9, 2018
Anne Glanz/Sharon Packer

Last week our 5th graders read stories they authored to the First Graders.  It was so sweet to see all of the children so engaged in reading and listening to these creative stories.

Science experiments continued this week. Most will be completed in the next week. Teddy is examining how fast ice melts in various materials, Giselle's experiment is about materials that shine pennies, Alexis and Victoria are examining paper airplanes using different types of paper, Emerson is examining plants growing in different types of soil, Alex is testing the durability of several types of homes, and Alli's experiment has to do with color saturation using egg shells. Stay tuned next week for a picture of her!

We had another session of Understanding our Differences this week. The topic this time was intellectual differences. Students participated in several activities followed by listening to a young woman with Down's Syndrome. Marie is a wonderful speaker and the kids were both engaged and respectful.
