Electrical Experiments!

The class has just begun an exciting science unit on electricity! After reading about static electricity, batteries, and light bulbs in our reading groups, we conducted a hands on experiment this morning focused on electrical circuits. The students were split into groups and attempted to find different paths to light up a small bulb using just a wire and single battery.

The groups made their hypotheses independently and then moved on to testing the various set ups. They then shared their conclusions and discussed the reasons why some allowed the light bulb to glow brightly, while others failed to work. Check out some photos below of our 3rd grade scientists!
