Week of February 26- March 2, 2018: First Grade Abraham/ Gulman

First Graders learned about the Tamchui organization, Leket Israel. 
Rescuing food from all over the country, 
Leket redistributes their gleanings to people in need. 
Each student created an agricultural map of Israel to highlight produce collected by Leket. 
Dressed in Purim costumes, our class visited Newbridge on Thursday-- bringing much joy to the residences!




On Friday morning, our class went back to Newbridge for a special music program, complete with drums and rhythm sticks!







 We celebrating "Read Across America" to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Grandparents snuggled up to first graders to share a variety of charming picture books.

Did you know that the Rashi School has been a member of The Massachusets Educational Theater Guild since 2003?  The Rashi Middle School Theater Company has been participating in the State Drama Festival for over 14 years.  We have had over 40 Rashi Middle School students stand and receive an All-Star Recognition Award at the festival over the years,  in the areas of Acting, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Sound Design and even 2 students as Live Musicians!  There are over 40 Middle Schools around the state that participate and Rashi is one of the Host Sites for the Festival this year!  The exciting part of festival is watching other Middle Schools perform and knowing that in is almostly completely student run.  If you haven't seen a festival come and visit on Sunday, April 28th from 9 AM - 6 PM. Behind the Scenes of Rashi Theater

Rashi Middle School Students are busy working on the upcoming play "A Wrinkle in Time" to be presented on November 16-17th.  Students are able to work behind the scenes by signing up for two different in school MS electives classes.  The Tuesday elective "Props and Costumes" and the Friday elective "Technical Theater Design" have been working the last few weeks designing for the performance.  Students in the electives have identified the costume, prop and scenery pieces that they are working on for the eight week electives.  Using Design Thinking they have started the process by learning the wants and needs for a show and talking to the Directors (their clients) to understand the vision for the show.   The start of the process includes research using the script to learn about needs for the design and the internet to learn about the time period of the 80s  for the show settting.  The students also created a Mood Board for costume inspiration.
