From Mesopotamia and Ancient Greece to Faneuil Hall and The Holocaust: 3,000 years of Social Studies in Boston!

What a perfect day... Temps in the 70s, behavior in the awesome range, excitement beyond the roof!

Students sang throughout the entire bus ride up to the MFA, bogeying to the latest pop songs together.

When we arrived, students broke into 3 groups to enjoy a personal docent-led tour through the MFA. The docents were so impressed by how much the students knew about Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Greece. The students were fascinated to see canopic jars filled with ancient Egyptians' guts, embalmed heads, mosaics of Assyrian gods and Greek weapons galore.

Then, students travelled throughout the museum with friends, marveling at Escher and exploring optical illusions.

Next, we headed out to Faneuil Hall for lunch. The sun was shining, from tea bubbles to pad thai to candy treats the food was incredible, and the street entertainment was fabulous!

Finally, we ended the day with a tour of the Holocaust Memorial in downtown Boston. The granddaughter of survivors shared her story, and spoke with the students about the history and lessons of the Holocaust. Students listened with such empathy and respect.

What a great day of learning, exploration and fun!!
