Today, the third graders went to Newbridge prepared to interview residents and employees about their immigration experiences. Questions included: In what country were you born, and from where did you emigrate? In what year did you immigrate, and how old were you when you came to the United States? Why did you immigrate? Did your family come with you? What was the trip to the United States like? How did you travel here? How did you feel on the journey? Did you have any difficulties with your immigration? What was your first impression of the United States? Did you bring anything special, and why? What did you do for a living before you came to the United States? What do you do in the United States? Who do you live with now, and where do you live? Is life in the United States what you expected it to be? Are you ever homesick? Are you glad you came? Have you become a United States citizen, or do you plan to?
In the coming weeks, students will write biographies about their interviewees and will work to put together presentations that they will share with their families, as well as with their interviewees, at the Family Education program on June 5th.
