Kate DiCamillo Projects!

This spring, students were assigned to four small reading groups, each focusing on a different book by Kate DiCamillo. Students read either The Tale of DespereauxThe Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Flora and Ulysses, or The Tales from Deckawoo Drive. Each book has a strong emphasis on character development, as well as multi layered plot points that came together by the end of each story.

Students spent time reading and discussing their assigned stories both during school time and as homework, often taking home a few chapters to read and coming back to school ready to discuss what they had read independently.

Upon completion, each student created a final project of their choice that demonstrated their understanding of the books. Students could choose from four options: an artistic option, a technology option, a performing option, or a written option. Each student then presented their final project in front of the class.

As you can see, we ended up with all different types of presentations! We were so impressed by the amount of time and care each and every student put into their individual projects. Kol Hakavod!
