Immigration!

Our final social studies unit on Immigration is always a curriculum highlight, and this year was no exception!

Thank you to all of you who were able to attend our spring Family Education program, which allowed our class to make personal connections to their own family immigration histories. We hope the experience was meaningful for you and your child, and has helped deepen your own family connection.

Additionally, we had the opportunity to learn from Judge Susan Garsh, a Rashi grandparent of a current 3rd and 5th grader, who was able to add on to our understanding of the immigrant experience in America and what it means to become a citizen of a nation.

Scroll down to see more photos and read about all the exciting learning that has been taking place in 3rd grade.

It was wonderful to welcome back our interviewees, residents and staff members from Newbridge and their affiliated campuses, to see all of the hard work our third graders put into recounting their stories.

As a special treat,  Judge Susan Garsh came to 3rd grade last Thursday and conducted a mock naturalization ceremony, an event which she presided over annually as a practicing Judge in Massachusetts for over 20 years!

Students and teachers had the opportunity to learn from her wealth of knowledge of the law and we were honored to be able to ask her some additional questions. Ask your child about the naturalization oath and anything else they may have learned about the process of becoming a citizen from Judge Garsh.
